About Bridges at the Bryn Mawr School
Bridges at Bryn Mawr opened in June of 2022 under the direction of Julia Dimaio, a former Bridges Summer Institute teacher. The first summer began with one class of rising fourth graders and one class of rising fifth graders. As the years progress, Bridges at Bryn Mawr will continue to provide year-round supports to these students through college and beyond, and will recruit a new class of 4th graders to grow the program annually.
Bridges at Bryn Mawr currently serves 37 public school students in grades 4-5 and engages about 40 upper school students each year from Bryn Mawr and its tri-school community (Gilman, Roland Park Country School.)

Get Involved
Upper School students from The Bryn Mawr School and its tri-school community (Gilman, Roland Park Country School) have year-round volunteer opportunities in programs for Bridges’ youngest students:
- Become an After School Tutor: The Bridges Elementary After School Program runs from September to May. Upper School volunteers commit to one season at a time and help guide enrichment activities and provide 1-on-1 homework help to their 4th and 5th grade buddies.
- Become a Summer Counselor: The Bridges Elementary / Middle Summer Institute runs for five weeks in June/July. Volunteer roles for Upper School students last for two weeks and include assisting in the classroom, helping to chaperone field trips, coordinating special activities, and being an overall positive presence at Bridges.
